Animation, JavaScript, and Flash on the Computer Make Me Sick

Ok, this isn't my typical political rant about technology. It's more of a plee towards sanity. When I see ads, animation, flash, javascript, or generally anything else that doesn't belong on the computer, it gives me a sort of sea sickness. My stomach turns, I try to think of it as television, but it's not television, it's just not. I can watch television without much problem, but I can't stand the "flash" on the computer.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great idea to have advanced animation on the computer. It's a better utilization of the computer and internet. It's just not for me, and I'm sure others, to use these advance technologies. So, we need to have a greater respect for those that can't handle the "flash" on the computer.

I'm not whining about features, I'm whining cause it hurts.

I want to watch HBO on the computer without getting sick. The only difference I can tell between the TV and computer is the refresh rate, and I'm sure that can be adjusted. It just makes my stomach turn, maybe it's the lack of commercials, but that doesn't make any sense.

Even this blog that I'm writing on seems floofy in 1 way or another. I'm sure it's because it's based on a Model View Controller architecture and I'm thinking about the connections, but still. It's annoying. Why can't the computer be sharp and clear like it used to be, or at least as common as a TV. It's not as bad as it could be, but why do we make the assumption that things will get worse? My hands are moving faster than my mind, and it doesn't bother me 1 bit.

Now don't take this as a promise. But, I could build a computer that was less floofy than this 1 and with more features. It would be based on the Linux Kernal. But, I don't even like Linux. Maybe I'd make my own hardware architecture while I'm at it.

Ok, this is turning into a technology rant. All I really want to say is...I use the computer a lot...I want to use it in a way that doesn't make me sick.

Maybe I need to replace keyboards and mice, or maybe I need to clean my office, or maybe I need more frequent breaks...but that's not the ticket, those are just band-aids. Maybe I need to be shocked to make my way to Washington and work for Microsoft, but that's a dead end. Maybe I just need to gain better technology skills so I know what needs to be done to prevent illness, or treat it (haha).

I'm going to change my wallpapers to pictures of sailboats in the Ocean and hope for the best.
