More Today...

Second blog entry. After my daily medicine, and a couple over the counter remedies. I'm good as new. Ready to go fishing.

I got a gift card from an employee at Broadway Awards for Ace hardware and I'm hoping they have fishing supplies. Or maybe the pieces to make ice fishing rods. I think I can make a real decent 1 out of hardware from Ace.

My Magic the Gathering decks are turning out real nice. I've got a budget Vintage deck for competing in Type I tournaments. I've got the makings of a standard deck. I've got a few more Vintage oddities in the works, they should play well. Not to mention my Dragons Deck. My Dragons Deck is my baby. It won't be complete until I win the lottery.

If you're set on 2 posts ago about well composed entries, don't give up hope. I've got a paper on the history of the telephone in the works. It may be interesting to a few readers.

Non-Carefully Planned Posts

Well, I broke down before I started. If there are to be carefully written posts they will be intermixed in my mind flow rants, like this one.

I had a very pleasant Christmas. A small amount of my family was over and we had plenty of food. Cody and I shot Grandpa Dave's .22 caliber rifle. That was a kick. I'm very happy with all my gifts and am beginning to become accustomed to our new house. I filled my time with "The Big Bang Theory" episodes. I kept busy and feel refreshed going into the new year.

As a side note, Dad, Cody, Dena, and I went fishing on Long Lake and caught a few. That was a hoot and a half. I'm dedicating 2015 to getting the outdoor equipment and gear that's appropriate for our new house. New ice fishing gear is first on my list. A rod and tackle box (that will double for winter and summer) are it for now. I'll check the net and the local "Bait and Tackle."

My apologies to those looking for neat constructed topical posts, I'm just not that motivated to put together essays right now.

Happy 300th Post

We are fairly certain of the past. We are fairly uncertain of the future. The best we can do is live for the future based on the learning of the past. In the past this blog has had a certain chaotic flare. In the future, I plan on having several prepared topics instead of going off whatever happens in a day. These prepared topics might be; “The Reason the Giants Won the World Series,” “What Advantage is there to having a Young Quarterback on the Vikings,” “An Overview of my latest Magic Deck,” “A Review of the Movie Class Action,” or “Enter the Dragon.” I hope to bring a bit of structure to it.

Welcome, and happy reading for the next 100 posts.

Also, my company website is www.versaglobe.com where you might find interesting collectibles for your interest to buy.

Trending Out of Tune

Have you ever noticed when your life seems to be in tune. Then, have you noticed, when your life seems to be trending out of tune. This is an incredibly important concept borrowed from music. After you have "tuned up" and played for a while, you'll begin trending out of tune. The instrument will sound dull and lifeless. It will sound as if you're moving away from the correct note. My life plays out as though the string and note are trending out of tune. After I've wound up, tuned, and rehearsed for a bit, I'll begin trending out of tune. The instrument sounds as if it doesn't wish to play the intended note any longer. But instead plays a note reminiscent of the intended note. Like a sister note, or cousin note. Of course the only remedy to this problem is to tune the instrument, and start anew. But what can we learn from the near miss of trending out of tune? Those shy, dull, lifeless notes, are notes unto themselves. Buried in some microtonal scale sitting dusty in the archives. Or played in another context does that trending out of tune note sound like an embellishment, a slow slide or bend? Is it a tattoo of rehearsal where the off-key note is a sign that the rehearsal is complete? Or the beginning of the second round, and an introduction to play. Whatever you call "trending out of tune," it's clear that the instrument needs to be put in tune and played anew. So until the next time we fall out of tune. Happy strumming.

When I Win the Lottery

Sometimes it's fun to think what you would do if you won the lottery or inherited a gross amount of money. Here's 1 that I've got some certainty on. I'd buy this guitar, and probably a dozen more behind it, and a room to put my guitars. By the Bye, it costs $11,299. That's some serious jack for an instrument.

Ok, Computers aren't That Bad....

I'm sure I'll regret this tomorrow, but computers aren't the devil spawn that my last post implies. I still believe they are a waste of time. And I still believe that backward technology is correct in many senses. But, as long as I'm sitting in front of this black hole, I might as well say there's something worth doing on here. So there, computers can do some things.

Computers are a Waste of Time and a Waste of Money

There aren't very many inventions that suck as much time and money as a computer. They are a complete waste of civilization. I'm willing to bet that countries with backward technology get along better than America.

Underappreciated Magic Sets

First off let me give a shout out to the most recent set...Khans of Tarkir. This set promises much. It's got some great new material and reprints that make it all the more worthwhile. Secondly, I'd like to give a shout out to the Duel Decks that have been produced. How many times have you just asked yourself...Can I get 2 Magic the Gathering decks that matchup well? That's what Duel Decks do...they simply matchup well against each other. Not to mention they are stock full of staple cards. Big thanks for the most recent sets and Duel Decks

Massive Headache

It's official Schizophrenia and headaches are linked. I've got a massive headache and have also been diagnosed with schizophrenia. I'm certain they are linked. I've posted a message on the schizophrenia forum to see if there are any sympathetic souls out there who might have something kind to say. If I can make it to my bed, make my bed, and climb into my bed tonight it will be a won day. Really, things must be not clicking somewhere in my head, like maybe my brain. !!Breaking News Update!! For now things are quiet around the office. A little too quiet. I will take a couple pills when I feel competent enough to administer them to myself. Maybe when I take vacation in February I'll stay South where the people don't worry as much. I think they have more crime and murder down in the south though. Sure would be nice to have warm weather year round. It's getting cold here. The breeze has a bite, and the leaves are changing to a warning orangish-red. Doesn't help that my thoughts are wandering like someone who might actually enjoy the cold. Surely, not me. I've made Mom a scarf that will keep her warm while walking the driveway and driving the car. I've also made Grandma a hat but that's more for her medical condition and not so much because of the cold. Though she will want to wear it on cold days. I'm not even profitable and my body yells at me as if I am. I don't get it. I'm not a money-grubbing stiff. But the world seems to think I've got that in me. Often times my mind and body rebel when I take a profit. It's ridiculous. I'm not talking anything excessively profitable. Just the usual excesses I've grown accustomed to. I know that I am a bit of a smash and grab kind of guy. But, now that I'm getting older I realize there are whos' and whys' to the things that we work with. I think a lot of it is growing up during the smash and grab, technology of the 90s.' I'm not soapboxing, believe me I'm not soapboxing. This blog was intended as my own memoirs far before my half dozen readership. Would be nice to make enough money to frequent McDonalds'. Wait, I've got.... A FREE FRY COUPON See Yah Later, Dear Diary EDIT -- I whined about my headache on the schizophrenia forum and another user was kind enough to point out that it's likely not related to schizophrenia.

suprised rants not making front page google

Ok, so not everything that I've blogged, I've been proud of. Yet, I thought I would have gotten a few regulars by now. Hey I ain't going to make a living blogging. But it wouldn't hurt to make a few bucks at it. I say this because I'd like to get a positive advertising stream of income. Currently I'm paying out more than I'm taking in and I still ain't seeing the cohesion in the technology thing that I signed up for. And the nay-sayers seem to have a say when it comes to things that don't work out. "It was about to break anyway," "it wasn't designed for that," "you don't need to do that to keep it running," "that happens once in a million." Enough with the nay-saying. It makes sane people tired and exhausted to the point they will give you credible crappy news.

Shout Out to Couriers (especially UPS)

I'm sure I'm due for a shout out to couriers. The people I love to take for granted. You guys deliver 3-hour rushes, the mail, and parcels every day for the common man. Computer and catalog shopping wouldn't be possible without you kind souls. Each shipping company has their area of expertise, which I won't pretend to understand. Even the good ol' post office is holding strong. And Angela, the Broadway Awards UPS Woman is always pleasant. I'm thankful.

Cheetos are Not a Food Group

I'm hungry all the time. Am I hungry now? Yes, I'm hungry now, and I've got an open bag of Cheetos in front of me. I'm breaking 3 cardinal rules by eating Cheetos. First, don't eat anything that turns your hands orange. Second, don't eat anything with 2 E's in its name. Third, don't do anything that Chester Cheetah says to do. That's all, I'm overeating again, "have a nice day."

Black Cats and Monkey Wrenches

Ok, so what does my rant today have to do with black cats and monkey wrenches. The thing is, I'm seeing black cats, dogs actually but who's counting, and wrenches out of the corner of my eyes. It's really strange to see things out of the blue like that. I can tell that muscles are going back to where they were, slowly but surely, getting stiffer and sorer. I wish I could make everyone less stiff and sore. I feel like a bit of focus on my core activities and hobbies would help, but I've already got an incredible amount of activity and focus in my life. I'm thinking of going to Friday Night Magic at Crystal. I'll have to talk with dad about my car. It's about $25 after it's all said and done for a full nights' entertainment. Well worth it if you ask me. Besides I fit the profile. Non-drinker, young, male, non-demanding career. I hope to pull a Wooded Foothill or 2 from a pack. The odds against are about 1 in 50, but worth it for a few commons, maybe a mythic rare, maybe a wooded foothill for my Dragon deck. This Friday is the 3rd, my payday for disability. I'll plan on going and getting food, a couple khan packs, and watching the tournament a little. Probably won't play though cause I'd like to put more thought into my standard deck this time. I'll begin this week by reading the card list online.

ponder....ponder

I do wonder if used memory sticks(so-dimms) from pcs could be retrofitted to be used in a digital camera. Just a random ponder I had about the better use of technology. Signing off now, have a great weekend.

How am I supposed to lead a regular life without a regular telephone!!

All I want out of this life is a regular working telephone from the telephone company. Is that so much to ask??

Less Electronics in Sporting Events...

This is something I feel very strongly about. Electronics should be kept at a minimum in professional sports. Electronic replays and reviews hurt every sport, including football. Watching the guys wait on a technical review makes everything worse off.

To the point, here's some examples where electronics make sense(if they are already used). 1, the sensor in hockey to tell when the puck has entered the scoring area. 2, Electronic sensing equipment in fencing and martial arts. 3, radios in the guys helmets. 4, real time box reviews where the game isn't interupted by the review. 5, scoring sensors in basketball 6, American Football fouls where the outcome of the game is dependant on a ruling 7, Shooting and projectile sports where the scoring area can be digitized 8, Racing where small tolerances are necessary

I could go on and on about the gray area of electronics in sports. The point is that electronics are helpful where they are necessary and functional, and not necessary everywhere else.

Sad About Grandma Dying

My grandma on my Dad's side is dying and I haven't seen her or spoken with her.  It makes me very sad to think I won't see her again. UPDATE: Grandma Mary has now passed away. I'm sorry to my family. You will be missed Grandma.

WARNING (boring technical analysis follows) Natural Selection of Computer Servers

It is my belief that the crooks in 3rd world countries are getting poorer. Here's how I know...the amount of spam in my inbox in relation to the number of web services I sign up for has been decreasing. Ergo, there are less crooks sending spam in 3rd world countries. Ergo, the natural life-cycle of third world computers is dwindling. I like to call this "Natural Selection of Computer Servers."

technical tweaking is sucking the lifeblood from me

I'm a little bit upset that certain people, like me, are completely clueless when it comes to civilizations finer points I've learned plentiful and devastating things today that didn't come in the newspaper or news tv, No, they are thinly concealed facets of my own life reaching insatiably nonsensical conclusions. I'm not angry, to the opposite, I'm calm, cause I don't know what to be angry a bout...

Organ, Keyboard, or Piano?

My first inclination is to tend toward the piano, a solid upright that fits in the middle of a room or in the corner of the basement.

Quick Look Back

I've always told myself that my blog will be an indispensable record as I look back on it for reference. And today I was going into a tizzy over art medium, looked back a couple weeks, and it helped. Had Uncle John, Aunt Karen, and cousin Krista over yesterday and, me personally, I had a great time. Not to mention we got a new door to the deck. And, Karen and John bought all of us pizza. Mighty tasty pizza at that. Comes from the local bar, Manzettis'.

Sense of Security

After losing your sense of security for long enough, I presume people, just random people, get whatever they want....I get this impression not from my own illness, but rather from the extremism of civilization. That sucks, and the thought that it may be true sucks even more. Why can't a decent view from my window be enough?!! It should be enough, at least for a moment. But somewhere, somewhere not so deep down actually is deeply pained and sad. I don't make excuses for him, I just live with him, day in and day out, for 30 years so far.

Living Up North Rocks

Since we've moved to the country things have been much more still. It's really pleasant. Don't have much against the city or the suburbs but my current situation is sweet. There's a bunch of sportsmen that make good use of the water and land up here. There's even big necked sheep, long necked sheep, don't know what they are called but they are really cool.

As far as work goes things are slow. Help with Broadway Awards now and then. Sell something on the internet now and then. Hear about a remote job possibility now and then. I'm happy with setting my own business goals and working by my own schedule.

That's all for now, have a good day

Burning Up and Double Vision

My office is sweltering, the body heat from arranging my things is burning me up. I've got the window open, but it's still hot. A few of my things I'm listing for sale on the internet. Buy them at versaglobe.com, eBay, Amazon, or directly from me. Also I'm experiencing deja vu, making it hard to function, but still remaining hopeful. I better go list a couple things on Amazon before I forget.

What the @#$% is the Difference Between Oil and Acrylic Painting?!

From what I've seen Acrylic art has more distinct lines due to the dry time difference. While oil takes longer to dry there is a tendency towards "washes" and less distinct blending. I've found that Acrylic often has more details. Personally I prefer Oils over Acrylic for historical reasons...many of the ancient artists worked in Oil and it's a fine medium today as it was thousands of years ago. I've painted several pieces in Oil and enjoy the way it works, I've yet to give acrylic a fair shake, but I truly enjoy many of the fantastical pieces being made today in acrylic. I'm very particular when it comes to watercolors, there's a fine line between a kindergarten piece and an expert piece. Though they are pleasing to look at. Maybe I'll find someone to go to the Minneapolis art fair with me this summer.

Peace, Have a Great Day

Bulllllllll Shit

Now the interweb is fritzing cause some jerk want me to be more active. I'm pissed cause I've worked hard to establish myself on the net, and now the web is having its own way?!! If I'm not mistaken it's costing ME; Time and Money; to do this; and I enjoy it; and some self-righteous, bolts for brains, person, is messing with Al Gore's interweb. I'm pissed. I've just started learning this tool and now bolts for brains wants to hack MY experience. Forget it, I'm downloading the internet to my floppy drive, and I'll build it my own way.

Photograph or High Quality Painting of the Same Subject?

There are pros and cons to each the photograph, and the painting. I'll outline the most obvious pros and cons of each and let you decide. Both can be grand or lame. Both can be slaved over, reproduced, setup, framed, etc. Here's goes, the pros and cons of photograph and painting.

The photograph is much more common in modern civilization to recount travels, parties, and otherwise novel things. This is because we move fast and want a fast way to preserve our memories. The photograph gives us a frame when life is too much, and for when life wants to be framed. The negatives of a photograph are meant to be preserved for a very long time, due to their great durability. Photographs can and are developed in different sizes and aspect ratios. Now, down to the artistic interpretation of a photograph...Photographs provide real life colors that are difficult to reproduce on canvas. The contrast, lighting, and definition with photographs can be made excellent through different means. Lastly, because of the ease and portability of cameras, photographs capture all sorts of bizarre and wonderful things.

Paintings on the other hand are usually much longer works done by those skilled in the craft of painting. A painting may be added to or subtracted from at the whim of the painter. The tools of painting are somewhat limited by traditional tools and means. The painter's experience, education, and history all play into a personal style of painting, often to the point where paintings can be identified without looking at the signature. And the qualities that appeal to painting. Paintings leave the observer imagining the painter's world immediately. A crafty painter may allow the observer to linger in their own imagination or let them judge the painting critically. Beyond the imagination of the painter and observer, there are often elements of paintings that are fantastical by societal standards. Lastly, because of the always changing availability of materials, crafting paintings is always subject to the supply and demand of materials.

Had a Good Dinner

Grandma and Grandpa bought a slow roasted chicken for dinner and I ate a bunch of it. I'm having a great vacation though the dust makes it a little hard to concentrate. All I really want is to be able to focus on my day and get some professional, personal, and creative things done. The warmth is a great way to relax my body, I'm very thankful for the warmth here. I miss my coworkers back at Minnesota, and my Family too. I think I and Grandma are going to make bracelets from used military parachutes. I want to make mine just right for my wrist. Peace out to all the blog-hoppers out there in cyber-verse.

The World Asked me to Throw a Fit, Here it is...

Shaun White and Shanni Davis, BOTH should have won their 3rd Gold. They both have the technical merit, training, strength, finesse, and star quality to stand atop the podium. I don't want to hear it wasn't their days, or that they've had their shot. They have worked harder than most anyone in their respective sports and they didn't perform anywhere near their training runs during the medal rounds. I don't think it was stress either, they both seemed composed starting their runs. I don't know what it was, but it's a real bummer that these top notch athletes didn't get their 3rd. :(

Sales Make me a Fat Cat

I'm really excited about VersaGlobe's new offerings. We've got graded memorabilia and new stock items. VersaGlobe.com has been updated to include our eBay sales. I hope this gives visitors of VersaGlobe.com the confidence to shop with us. Our auxiliary listings have been temporarily taken down while I'm away on vacation, but they will return when I get back to Minnesota.

Really Happy with what they have done with Magic the Gathering

I'm really happy with how they (Wizards) have made the game of Magic a really exciting event. There's always something new, and there's always some of that old I'll cast creatures, you'll cast creatures, they will do battle, and a few will make it toward you. Plus, with token creatures, counters, and abilities, there seems to be a bunch of neat creature encounters. And they have added planeswalkers, and plenty of dual land gates for budget decks across the board.

Nasty Flu Mite Inf3cting the back of my Nose

I missed my vacation to Arizona, and can barely remember my name, because of a sinus infection. This is the absolute pits. Always wondered what it would feel like to be helpless, this is it. Not to mention I'm absolutely jonesing for nefarious excess, like a Camel cigarette and a large pizza. I hope my balance comes back today so that I might help with the snow. I do feel healthier in my chest from quitting smoking. My checking will thank me too. It's funny how 1 little bug in the nose can make the whole body stop functioning. The dogs are nursing me back to health. Thanks to my doctor too.
