This goes back a couple years to my "too bad, so sad" series of posts that left you wondering how a middle class child could have such terrible luck with healthcare... Well, I'm back, and armed with more knowledge... the Price of healthcare sucks, the timeliness of Healthcare sucks, and the accuracy of Healthcare sucks... I say "sucks" because I'm being polite about the various medicines I take and the appointments I have...
It just came to me, I can ignore the judge, I can ignore the mistakes in healthcare, and only focus on what I can directly impact, but carry a conversation with just about anyone and the judge and healthcare come up...
First the price of healthcare, middle class folks are a generally hearty bunch, not the kind you would think are fighting billion dollar HMO's and drug companies. Not the kind, you would think are mixed up in waiting rooms.
The timeliness of healthcare kinda bites, because we can treat a great many ailments with vaccines, antibiotics, and mainline medicine, and if all we can come up with is the common cold a great many patient's will not be so patient to ask what their doctor is really up to...
Accuracy, the only reason I put this here is because between human beings imaginations, hypochondria, social and physical reasons to have more regular check-ups, and all the rest of the urgency that goes into modern medicine accuracy is an issue... The insurance companies will tell you they are cut to the bone, the doctor's and nurses will tell you they're doing everything possible. Yet, we have the ability to turn a 60% accuracy into an 80% accuracy without the doctor's, nurses, or insurance changing just about anything...
It is a bad attitude, it really is, but I've had months and months to think about what's sapping the energy and health out of my daily life... It's a perspective that if realized I would think a little better about judges, doctor's, nurse's, and insurance people...
