What the @#$% is the Difference Between Oil and Acrylic Painting?!

From what I've seen Acrylic art has more distinct lines due to the dry time difference. While oil takes longer to dry there is a tendency towards "washes" and less distinct blending. I've found that Acrylic often has more details. Personally I prefer Oils over Acrylic for historical reasons...many of the ancient artists worked in Oil and it's a fine medium today as it was thousands of years ago. I've painted several pieces in Oil and enjoy the way it works, I've yet to give acrylic a fair shake, but I truly enjoy many of the fantastical pieces being made today in acrylic. I'm very particular when it comes to watercolors, there's a fine line between a kindergarten piece and an expert piece. Though they are pleasing to look at. Maybe I'll find someone to go to the Minneapolis art fair with me this summer.

Peace, Have a Great Day
