Layup from the Free Throw

The ball is laid up from the free throw line and smashed into the rim, rebounding through the net, score. The Suns celebrate, they have a 2 point lead. The ref gives a Timberwolf the ball and he brings it in. Then a far pass up the left lane. The ball is dribbled back and forth in front of the 3. Back and forth the ball goes as the shot clock unwinds. Back and up, with a fade away, clank. The terrible metallic sound of a far miss. The Suns regain control jumping and grabbing. Slow the madness. Two Suns stay back, the press is half court, giving them a few seconds to recoup. A lob to the paint, a spin, a spin, breakaway jumper and rolls Out of the rim. Again the Timberwolves taking advantage in a shift of momentum. And a quick pass, one on one. Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Up, with a windmill of movement. Tied. Next quarter, jump ball. Sun's recover with a flurry that came from their coach. Yet stopped by an equalled flurry of defense. Pass around the 3, in and out, pass around the 3. A Sun gets a pick, gets it in the paint, and gets it up. The score is 29 points, 31 points, Suns. The starter comes back off the bench. Timberwolves can't convert. A feeble lob outside the paint missing wide right. Suns again marching down the hardwood. Tall black and white men towering behemoths of muscle. The Suns are keeping their momentum going and the quarter is no longer fresh as the ball is rejected by a timber wolf in the paint. Set in and setup by the Suns another 2 points. The Timberwolves need something as the guard throws up three fingers, definitely a pick and roll. But wait, the ball goes left, and back, and forth, up for 3 points. There was no grabbing of the rim, the ball was pushed, it was nothing but net. The Suns lead by 1 again pressing to regain the momentum. 2 back, 3 forward. Spending the shot clock on positioning. Then a lob to the power forward. 1 dribble, press, 2 dribbles, press, up, a pass to the paint, and a 180 dunk behind the back. A fist pump by the dunker and back to defense. The Timberwolves are growing tired of the Suns lead. The guard makes a fast break only to be grabbed by a Suns defenseman, personal foul. Ball comes in from half court, again pressing. Up for 2 and the bump. A Wolf comes to the line. The ref bounces him the ball. He bends real low for some practice dribbles, his teammates intent on the rebound. He lifts by straightening his legs as his arms arc with strength twisting the ball toward the rim. Swoosh. His right hand still holding the rim as the Suns draw an offense. The Suns lead by one.
