Ounces Make Pounds, and Competition is a Good Thing
My mom is the President of the Robbinsdale Chamber of Commerce, which leads me to do some thinking about my position on business. So I've narrowed my philosophy down to a simple formula, and it is...
1) Ounces make pounds. Basically, business should be thinking in the margin always and forever, never taking on more weight than they can handle, slowly building, and always making forward progress.
2) Competition is a good thing. There should be at least 2 similar products in every business, and 2 similar business in every industry. This gives credibility to the leader, allows for differentiation, solves supply and demand spikes, and is a natural way of providing variety.
So, this is the culmination of years of thinking about business, I will likely change my mind tomorrow, but today this sums it up well.
